Funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and partnering with professional Tour guide company Savannah Guides, facilitated by Tourism Director of Tourism Naturally, Neil McGilp. As well as field trips to surrounding locations participating in hiking tours, story telling, as well as developing their own themes and ideas around local cultural perspectives. All catered for daily using local food outlets. We were heavily supported by the local Aboriginal Corporations which made this training an even more success - Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation and IBN Group assisted in contacting local job seekers and community members wanting to upskill in the tourism industry. Gumala Aboriginal Corporation kindly donated their 21 seater bus for the guys which allowed flexibility to travel on country to gain a real cultural experience. Upon completion we certified 8 of our participants that completed the Tour guide training and 3 of these participants also managed to complete the theory component of the Ego Guide Training Accreditation. All of which are interested in pursuing further training and are looking forward to putting these stills into action. On behalf of the CRC here at Nintirri Centre we want to give a huge Thank you to everyone involved in helping roll out such a wonderful opportunity for our local community members.
