Family Violence Safety Planning

Safety planning and support if you are experiencing violence at home.

The coronavirus outbreak is leading to big changes in the way we live our everyday lives. Our relationships will be hugely important for getting us through this but self-isolation, social distancing and other concerns may also place them under added pressure.

If you are in immediate danger, always call the police on 000.

Safety planning is thinking about things that you can do to be safer when living with violence or abuse. It can include things like:

  • Copying some of your important papers and leaving with a trusted person or download a free scanning app on your phone and take scans of important papers.
  • Have an emergency bag packed with a spare phone, cash and keys.
  • Have a code word with a trusted person to let them know you are in danger.
  • Do not be afraid to call the police.

The Nintirri Centre offer support with:

  • Safety plans
  • Emergency relief
  • Informal counselling, providing information or just having a talk
  • Access to short term emergency crisis accommodation
  • Phone counselling
  • Under regular circumstances we have a drop in clinic that operates in Tom Price and Paraburdoo, but this has been affected by COVID 19, call Fay to have a chat over the phone or arrange an appointment.

Call or text Fay McInnes, our Family Violence Counsellor on 0400 206 079 or email her at dvservice@nintirri.org.au
